Boots on the Ground

Share in suffering as a good soldier of Christ Jesus. No soldier gets entangled in civilian pursuits, since his aim is to please the one who enlisted him.

2 Timothy 2:3–4

When you enter the military you put aside the freedoms you once had as a civilian to serve a greater mission. Gone is individuality, you work as a collective unit. You’re willing to die for your friends and for a cause greater than you, the freedom and protection of others. Paul used military metaphors for this reason, to illustrate the new life believers face as followers of Christ.
