Worthy to Serve

Therefore I, a prisoner for serving the Lord, beg you to lead a life worthy of your calling, for you have been called by God.

Ephesians 4:1

I can remember a time where I was not following the Lord, it was a dark time. I also remember when He started tugging on my heart. When I answered that call it was followed by repentance and grieving of the Holy Spirit. The pain and regret were immense! Changing one’s direction may involve some pain, but the joy of following Christ is worth it!

Getting Back Up

The lord will guide you continually, giving you water when you are dry and restoring your strength.

Isaiah 58:11

No matter how physically strong we are, we will always run out of steam under the heavy weight of troubles. God’s strength is the key to eternal stamina. We must rely on God’s strength, which will allow us to get up every time we’re knocked down.

Lord, thank you for your endless supply of strength that allows me to persevere.

We Need to Water Our Faith

“Come, let us return to the LORD; for he has torn us, that he may heal us; he has struck us down, and he will bind us up. After two days he will revive us; on the third day he will raise us up, that we may live before him. Let us know; let us press on to know the LORD; his going out is sure as the dawn; he will come to us as the showers, as the spring rains that water the earth”

Hosea 6:1–3

California has been going through a long period of drought. It has changed the landscape of many areas from a year-round beautiful green landscape to a brown weedy wasteland. Sometimes our faith can become dry as well. Sometimes we fail to see God in the small things when our circumstances are not what we had hoped. Sometimes it’s not God that has withheld the rains, it’s our lack of watering our own faith. A relationship is a two-way street. We have a responsibility to read God’s word and reach out to Him. If we’re simply waiting for Him, our faith can waiver.

If any of you lacks wisdom, you should ask God, who gives generously to all without finding fault, and it will be given to you.But when you ask, you must believe and not doubt, because the one who doubts is like a wave of the sea, blown and tossed by the wind.

James 1:5-6

We all have doubts sometimes. Our faith is a gift from God, but sometimes it may waiver. In these times, we need to ask God for clarity. Thomas doubted Jesus, so He presented him with clear evidence. God wants us to know who He is and be confident in His existence. If your faith is being tested, ask Him to increase it and reveal Himself to you.

Lord, I pray for those whose faith is being tested. Reveal yourself in a tangible way to them today.

Lifelong Transformation

The saying is trustworthy, for: If we have died with him, we will also live with him;

2 Timothy 2:11

God is busy shaping and molding us here on earth so that we may be acceptable to enter the heavenly gates of eternity. When we go through hard times, these are times that God makes us more pliable so that He can continue to transform us to be more Christ-like.

Lord forgive me when I struggle during trials. I know these are times when I should welcome the work you are doing in my life.

Faith is the Key

And without faith it is impossible to please him, for whoever would draw near to God must believe that he exists and that he rewards those who seek him.

Hebrews 11:6

You cannot enter through the gates of heaven if you do not have faith. Faith is required and pleasing to God. It is the keys to the kingdom, that which can move mountains, what sustains the Christian with the assurance that eternity has been guaranteed to those who believe on Jesus Christ.

Lord, increase my faith daily, that I may be a pleasing vessel equipped to be used by you.

Don’t Be Tight-Lipped

They shall speak of the glory of your kingdom and tell of your power, to make known to the children of man your mighty deeds, and the glorious splendor of your kingdom.

Psalm 145:11-12

The Great Commission is fulfilled by believers sharing their experiences and God’s word. God never intended for us to be tight-lipped when it comes to revealing who He is and how He has worked out blessings in our lives. We should be bold and never timid when it comes to sharing our faith.

Lord, help me to bold in revealing to others the awesome ways you have manifested your love in my life.
