As for you, brothers, do not grow weary in doing good.
2 Thessalonians 3:13
Growing weary is similar to getting bored with something. Our faith should be refreshed every day. We must not grow tired of serving Christ with all of our heart, we must remain willing vessels for His love to flow through. A continued search for who God is through His Word will keep the human heart in awe of His magnificence.
Lord, refresh in me a faithful heart each morning and a desire to serve you.
He himself bore our sins in his body on the tree, that we might die to sin and live to righteousness. By his wounds you have been healed.
1 Peter 2:24
Three hours nailed to a piece of wood…that’s all it took after the beatings. For all the grace that you’ve experienced, this act of love should fill your heart with great sorrow and great joy all at the same time. Set your goal as heaven and you will do Christ’s work here on earth.
Lord, thank you for taking my stripes and my punishment. Thank you for seeking out my heart and embracing me with all my faults. Help me to serve you mightily.
A double minded man is unstable in all his ways.
Following Jesus Christ takes a single-minded focus in one direction, down the narrow path. You can’t keep taking detours onto the highway that leads to destruction, there’s no sitting on the fence. To be used by Christ you must submit to His authority and follow Him.
Lord, help me to stay glued onto the path of life, following in your footsteps.
Carry each other’s burdens, and in this way you will fulfill the law of Christ.
It’s easy to have friends when things are going great, but what about when trials come. Many people bail on their friends because they can’t handle the added burden when true friendship is required. Partnering with others, carrying their burdens, is an act of love and sacrifice that truly glorifies God.
Lord, when the tough times come give me additional courage and strength to stand with those going through trials, to serve as you would, to glorify God.
“You have heard that it was said, ‘You shall love your neighbor and hate your enemy.’ But I say to you, Love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you, so that you may be sons of your Father who is in heaven. For he makes his sun rise on the evil and on the good, and sends rain on the just and on the unjust.
Loving those who treat us poorly is not a simple act. To us, it almost seems counter to how most would react. But Christ in us gives us the ability to allow Him to love them “through” us. With the help of the Holy Spirit, we can overcome the trappings of this world as we react counter to it. Christ’s love can flow through us, drawing those who do not know Him into relationship with Him.
Lord, help us to open our hearts and allow your love to flow freely upon all who we meet.
And let the peace of Christ rule in your hearts, to which indeed you were called in one body. And be thankful.
Jesus Christ is the only way one can experience true peace in their life. When you puts their complete trust in Him, you will experience a peace that will continue even through tough situations. Putting your trust in the Creator of the Universe, who can handle any situation, is faith lived out.
Lord, take away all of my worries and replace them with a peace only you can provide.
Commit to the Lord whatever you do, and he will establish your plans.
Committing something to the Lord requires that you give whatever that thing is your full effort, lifting it up in prayer continually. God can accomplish anything, but sometimes this requires that we wait on His timing, never giving up or giving in. It will be to His glory in the end, a praise worthy endeavor.
Lord, as we have handed this thing into your hands, we pray for patience and faith. Give us the strength to never give up, praying constantly until your timing arrives.
