King of Kings!

DAILY VERSE

Then I saw heaven opened, and behold, a white horse! The one sitting on it is called Faithful and True, and in righteousness he judges and makes war. On his robe and on his thigh he has a name written, King of kings and Lord of lords.

DEVOTION

No matter what the world throws at us, it’s always comforting to remember that Jesus will one day rip through the clouds on a white horse to claim victory and reward those who believe. Each of us has a heavenly inheritance to claim and a savior who pays intimate attention to every detail of our lives.

Driven to Your Knees

DAILY VERSE

But he said to me, “My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.” Therefore I will boast all the more gladly of my weaknesses, so that the power of Christ may rest upon me. For the sake of Christ, then, I am content with weaknesses, insults, hardships, persecutions, and calamities. For when I am weak, then I am strong.

DEVOTION

It’s when we are at our worst, when we are crushed on all sides, that God’s strength comes through the greatest. When we are driven to our knees by faith, God shows His ability to work miracles in any situation. God can turn a bad situation into good, a testimony that brings Him glory.

Sharing is Worship

DAILY VERSE

Through him then let us continually offer up a sacrifice of praise to God, that is, the fruit of lips that acknowledge his name.

Hebrews 13:15

DEVOTION

The measure of a believers faith can be summed up in their willingness and drive to share. It shows a zeal to see others experience the free gift of salvation and gratefulness and joy one has received through Christ’s sacrifice to see them washed of all of their sins.

Tempted

DAILY VERSE

No temptation has overtaken you that is not common to man. God is faithful, and he will not let you be tempted beyond your ability, but with the temptation he will also provide the way of escape, that you may be able to endure it.

1 Corinthians 10:13

DEVOTION

Everyone gets tempted to do wrong, it just depends on what you do at the time of the tempting. Do you turn to God and ask for strength or do you rely on your own? Self reliance leads to stumbling, put your trust in God.

Loving the Sinner

DAILY VERSE

But God shows his love for us in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us.

Romans 5:8

DEVOTION

If you have a child who has lost his or her way, do you abandon them? Do you simply give up on them after you’ve disciplined them over and over, but the continue on a destructive path? No, you pray for them, continue to run after them, and intercede for them if possible. That’s what God did for us in the sacrifice of Jesus Christ.

Give it to God!

DAILY VERSE

Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God.

Philippians 4:6

DEVOTION

Every time I read this verse I hear my dear friend Juan’s voice with his slight slur from Bells Palsy. He’s hanging out with Jesus now, but this was one of his favorite verses. It speaks to allowing our focus to move from God to the things of world. Putting our faith in God alleviates anxiety, because God can actually affect change where this world cannot.

Approach Others in Love

DAILY VERSE

And walk in love, as Christ loved us and gave himself up for us, a fragrant offering and sacrifice to God.

Ephesians 5:2

DEVOTION

Christ approached everyone He came in contact with, in love. Even those like the Pharisees who were over religious, made up rules for others they didn’t follow, and were self aggrandizing, He approached in love. Love is not a feeling, it is an action. Choose to love and you will see a dramatic shift in how people respond to you.

Friend for Life

DAILY VERSE

No longer do I call you servants, for the servant does not know what his master is doing; but I have called you friends, for all that I have heard from my Father I have made known to you.

John 15:15

DEVOTION

You are never friendless and you are never alone. The minute you accepted Jesus’ invitation to allow Him to be Lord of your life, you also gained a friend for life. Rely and have faith, He is always there.

Power Over Sin

DAILY VERSE

That I may know him, and the power of his resurrection…

Philippians 3:10

DEVOTION

The power that Christ had to overcome death is the same power Christians have available to overcome sin and the problems of this world.

Give Me the Strength

DAILY VERSE

Since therefore Christ suffered in the flesh, arm yourselves with the same way of thinking, for whoever has suffered in the flesh has ceased from sin, so as to live for the rest of the time in the flesh no longer for human passions but for the will of God.

1 Peter 4:1–2

DEVOTION

Lord, I struggle each day to hold fast to your example. Give me not only the desire, but the guidance to follow you in a manner that glorifies you, to live a life absent of the chains that shackle each of us to our sinful nature and to pick up my cross afresh each day.
