At His Feet Lies Our Hope

I’ll never forget the trouble, the utter lostness, the taste of ashes, the poison I’ve swallowed. I remember it all—oh, how well I remember— the feeling of hitting the bottom. But there’s one other thing I remember, and remembering, I keep a grip on hope.

Lamentations 3:18-21 (MSG)

Anyone who’s gone through life-changing trials knows the feeling, hope. You hope daily that things will improve, that somehow things will turn around. But the farther you get from the initial circumstance, turning around is no longer an option and you have to face it head-on. Those are the times where your hope lies at the feet of Jesus. Only He can provide the way.

Rewarding Persistance

Then I will gather the remnant of my flock out of all the countries where I have driven them, and I will bring them back to their fold, and they shall be fruitful and multiply.

Jeremiah 23:3

God’s promises are real! When we are faithful and persevere through times of trials where God is molding us for greater service, he will certainly reward your efforts. Many will give up and walk away from what God has in store for them, but blessings await those who persist.

Fighting Against the Current

But he who is joined to the Lord becomes one spirit with him.

1 Corinthians 6:17

Making a decision to follow Christ grafts you into the Tree of Israel and joins you to God through his Holy Spirit. But being joined to God doesn’t mean you can’t veer off track. Those times when you feel as though you’re fighting against the current may simply be evidence that you’ve veered off of the path God has laid out for you.

You Never…Know it All

Not that I have already obtained this or am already perfect, but I press on to make it my own because Christ Jesus has made me his own.

Philippians 3:12

In everything we do, especially in our faith, we should never stop growing. We will never know it all, we will never be experts. The person who claims to know it all stops growing and is soon past by. God’s Word is alive! You will never look at or learn from a verse the same way no matter how many times you read it. Never stop seeking to know God or His Word more daily!

Refreshment for Your Bones

It will be healing to your flesh and refreshment to your bones.

Proverbs 3:8

Going through a season where God is molding you through trials is tough. Like any labor we do, trusting and waiting on God is focused work. The refreshment comes at the end of your labor. Like a cool glass of tea and the satisfaction that you accomplished what you set out to do, with God’s presence, enduring trials brings with it healing and refreshment to your bones.

…He Will Step In!

After him was Shamgar the son of Anath, who killed 600 of the Philistines with an oxgoad, and he also saved Israel.

Judges 3:31

Shamgar kind of had a walk-on part, but he made a huge impact in this story. Often, we don’t realize our own potential and never step out in fear we may fail. Shamgar was a common man who did uncommon things, he stepped out and stepped up. God’s power is at your disposal. Step out in faith and He will step in.

Don’t Grow Weary

For this people’s heart has grown dull, and with their ears, they can barely hear, and their eyes they have closed; lest they should see with their eyes and hear with their ears and understand with their heart and turn, and I would heal them.

Acts 28:27

Faith is a lifelong endeavor. There will be times when your faith grows cold. But each of us must be vigilant to not weary from the path God has set us on. The prize is heaven and an eternity in the presence of God, surrounded by the love of Jesus. The journey may get bumpy, but stay the course, your reward is infinite!
