Where You Came From

The saying is trustworthy and deserving of full acceptance, that Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners, of whom I am the foremost.

1 Timothy 1:15

There’s a saying that goes, “Don’t forget where you came from.” Your life today is the result of your life experiences and the way you’ve responded to them. Your mistakes, failures, and triumphs are part of who you are. So as a follower of Christ, always remember where you came from and how He’s transformed your life. Live a life of gratitude and service in direct response to His grace!

Straying from the Path

And he said to them, “Out of the eater came something to eat. Out of the strong came something sweet.” And in three days they could not solve the riddle.

Judges 14:14

God has a plan for each of us. It is unique and specifically designed just for us. But free will can enter in, deviating from that plan is simple. Samson was dedicated to the Lord at birth but managed to break every vow, choosing instead to follow his own purpose. When we stray off of God’s path we’re heading down a dangerous road that only leads to destruction.

The Power of the Holy Spirit

I write to you, fathers, because you know him who is from the beginning. I write to you, young men, because you are strong, and the word of God abides in you, and you have overcome the evil one.

1 John 2:14

Powerful Bible.

The key phrase in this verse is that we’ve “overcome the evil one”. But so often we feel like we’re powerless to overcome his temptations. God has empowered us with the Holy Spirit. We have 24/7 access to that power, but we continually forget to rely on this resource and we end up failing. Rely on every tool God has given you to fight back and live a Christ-centered life!

Let the Blessings Flow

For the eyes of the Lord run to and fro throughout the whole earth, to give strong support to those whose heart is blameless toward him.

2 Chronicles 16:9

To receive blessings, you must first be blessable. God blesses those whose hearts are aligned with His. If you feel like you are being overlooked, you may want to check your motives and make sure they are God-centered. Draw close to God, align your will with His, and watch as the blessings flow!

Remain Humble

Therefore let anyone who thinks that he stands take heed lest he fall.

1 Corinthians 10:12

The biggest mistake anyone can make is thinking that they are spiritually superior and immune from falling flat on their face. The Enemy is smart. He knows the scripture better than we do and, more importantly, he knows how to set the perfect trap for us to fall into. Always remain humble, sanctification is a lifelong process. Until the day each of us falls into Jesus’ arms, we are susceptible to temptation and failure.

Through the Desert

And the people of Israel again did what was evil in the sight of the Lord, so the Lord gave them into the hand of the Philistines for forty years.

Judges 13:1

I don’t know about you, but I’ve read through the Bible from front to back over six times. Every time I read about Israel getting hammered “again” for either disobeying God our doubting Him, I wish I could be transported back in time and scream, “What are you doing?!” But then my vision clouds as I realize I have a board in my eye because I do the same thing. Strive to diminish the “again” times, follow God through your deserts, allowing Him to lead you into glory!

The Alpha & Omega

“I am the Alpha and the Omega,” says the Lord God, “who is and who was and who is to come, the Almighty.”

Revelation 1:8

It’s easy to forget or overlook the deity of God. We don’t physically see Him, we pray to Him in faith yet we don’t always hear an audible answer. All we need to do is stop and ponder on humanity and creation as a whole, and He comes fully into view. Evidence of His handwork is everywhere! We must settle on the fact that God is much greater than our feeble understanding and that He is “for” us! God is Great!
