He’s Overcome the World

“I have said these things to you, that in me you may have peace. In the world you will have tribulation. But take heart; I have overcome the world.”

John 16:33

“I never promised you a rose garden…”, these old lyrics remind us, but the opposite is true. God did promise us a garden, but mankind’s sinful nature ripped away that promise. We will suffer as believers, but through God’s Word, we know how the story ends. Take heart through your struggles, Jesus conquered the trappings of this world and He will help you overcome your circumstances!

Words to Live By

He has told you, O man, what is good; and what does the Lord require of you but to do justice, and to love kindness, and to walk humbly with your God?

Micah 6:8

These are amazing words to live by. As the Holy Spirit transforms us into the likeness of Christ, living by these principals will cause the outside world to want to know Jesus. May we all reflect the One who resides in us!

Good Things on the Horizon

Being confident of this very thing, that he which hath begun a good work in you will perform it until the day of Jesus Christ:

Philippians 1:6

We are not perfect (that’s an understatement in my case), and we will not be completely perfected until we enter the presence of Jesus Christ in heaven. The process we are going through now is all meant to come together for that good. Sanctification is an ongoing transformation of healing and equipping. Take heart, God has great things in store for you.

Be Christ!

For the ministry of this service is not only supplying the needs of the saints but is also overflowing in many thanksgivings to God.

2 Corinthians 9:12

Some find it hard to love without condition. I say, as a follower of Christ, that it’s not my ability to love, but to allow Jesus to love others through me. Just as I believe we cannot comprehend the depths of God’s love, I also believe that allowing the overflowing of the same is the only way to not mess it up. Let Jesus’ love come through as you serve others today!

“It’s not enough to try and imitate Christ as much as possible; it is not enough to be inspired by the words and actions of Jesus Christ. No, the spiritual life presents us with a far more radical demand: to be living Christs here and now, in time and history. We will never know our true vocation in life unless we are willing to grapple with the radical claim the gospel places on us. . . . Regardless of the particular shape, we give to our lives, Jesus’ call to discipleship is primal, all-encompassing, all-inclusive, demanding a total commitment. One cannot be a little bit for Christ, give him some attention or make him one of many concerns.” – Henri Nouwen

I Feel Like Singing!

The Lord your God is in your midst, a mighty one who will save; he will rejoice over you with gladness; he will quiet you by his love; he will exult over you with loud singing.

Zephaniah 3:17

If this verse doesn’t get your heart singing, I don’t know what else would. To have God rejoicing over you, quieting you with His love, and singing loudly over you. We often imagine God as an all-powerful Oz behind a curtain, never to be revealed. But God is far from that. His love covers us in the blood of His Son who died for us. God, who hears and answers the prayers of the multitude simultaneously and with equally individual care. Our God is an awesome God!

He Gave Up His Throne

He is so rich in kindness and grace that he purchased our freedom with the blood of his Son and forgave our sins.

Ephesians 1:7

It still amazes me that God could love us so much, that as flawed as we all are, He would give up His throne in heaven to dwell among us, and take the abuse and pain, to die nailed on a cross, so that we could once again have a close relationship with God our Father. Mankind was created to have a one-on-one relationship with God, mankind shattered that relationship, God sewed it back together with the blood of His Son!

Feeling the Pressure?

Let your eyes look directly forward, and your gaze be straight before you.

Proverbs 4:25

We all have circumstances that can cause our gaze to waiver. As humans, there are so many times that we attempt to handle problems best left in God’s hands. When you feel the crushing weight of your trials weighing you down, focus your gaze on the One who conquered death!
