God Has a Plan

“I knew you before I formed you in your mother’s womb. Before you were born I set you apart and appointed you as my prophet to the nations.”

Jeremiah 1:5

To think that God knew us prior to our first inhaled breath outside of the womb is amazing. He has a plan for us that spans the entirety of our natural life. Even when you have a setback, God has already prepared your comeback. Be assured that God is working things out even when you don’t see them, He will reveal himself in the subtlest of ways.

Do You Have an Ebenezer?

Samuel then took a large stone and placed it between the towns of Mizpah and Jeshanah. He named it Ebenezer (which means “the stone of help”), for he said, “Up to this point the lord has helped us!”

1 Samual 7:12

How often do we commemorate what God has done in our lives? An altar is like saying God has done something amazing and He can do it again. When you’re on the cusp of something big happening, do you have an Ebenezer to remind that God can do this? Let’s get into the habit of celebrating God’s triumphs instead of worrying about our own failures.

Rely on God’s Strength

Have you not known? Have you not heard? The LORD is the everlasting God, the Creator of the ends of the earth. He does not faint or grow weary; his understanding is unsearchable. He gives power to the faint, and to him who has no might he increases strength.

Isaiah 40:28–29

I wish I never grew weary or faint, but I always have God to rely on, who will give me the strength to carry on. He never changes, He’s always there, His love for us is never-ending. I’m thankful that He is mindful of us and draws near when we need Him during deep trails or the smallest of worries.

Always Assume the Best!

Write this letter to the angel of the church in Philadelphia. This is the message from the one who is holy and true, the one who has the key of David. What he opens, no one can close; and what he closes, no one can open.

Revelation 3:7

The most frightening things in life can come when doors are closed. It’s hard to fathom what comes next, the uncertainty of your future. But how many times has God closed a door only to multiply His blessings by opening another? When it comes to God, always assume the best!

Be Humble

Before destruction the heart of a man is haughty, And before honor is humility.

Proverbs 18:12

Before you can ever be exalted you first need to take the posture of humbleness. If God has a high position set for you, you will never obtain it as long as your pride gets in the way. To be Christ-like is to live a life of humility.

God-Given Talent

Casting down arguments and every high thing that exalts itself against the knowledge of God, bringing every thought into captivity to the obedience of Christ…

2 Corinthians 10:5

Ideas and plans are great, but actually putting the gears in action to make them a reality is evidence that you are using your God-given inspiration and talent to make them real. God gives each of us unique abilities, but letting them lie dormant does not honor God. We need to use them to their fullest to glorify God, giving Him the credit and praise He deserves.

Wrestling Lions

Benaiah was the son of Jehoiada, the son of a valiant man from Kabzeel, who had done many deeds. He had killed two lion-like heroes of Moab. He also had gone down and killed a lion in the midst of a pit on a snowy day.

2 Samuel 23:20

Life is totally a “box of chocolates”, as Forest Gump famously said, and throughout life, we have choices to make. Will we be fearful or will we jump in the pit with the lion? As safe life hiding within the confines of the church is really no life at in the context of The Great Commission. Christ wants our feet on the ground, He wants us to wrestle the lion and spread the gospel. Have the courage to jump in the pit!
