DAILY VERSE
Create in me a clean heart, O God. Renew a loyal spirit within me.
(Psalm 51:10)

DEVOTION
One of my prayers lately is that God would grant me a heart more like his. To truly be a light to the world, to be different, your heart needs to be transformed. Jesus Christ drew people to him because of his pure heart. He loved without discrimination and sought out those who were hurting. When your heart changes, your life is transformed, because your thoughts and everything you speak is motivated for good. Pray for your heart to be more like Christs and people will be drawn to Jesus through you.

DAILY VERSE
Not that I was ever in need, for I have learned how to be content with whatever I have.
(Philippians 4:11)

DEVOTION
How content are you with what you have? In a world that glorifies the attitude of “more, more, more”, it’s no wonder people want bigger houses, newer cars, and more money… God blesses us with everything we have, whether it’s much or little. If he blesses you with much, he may place people or situations in your path where a need can be fulfilled. Being content also helps to develop a heart that is thankful, a heart to serve, and a heart that is giving.

DAILY VERSE
Jesus] rose from supper. He laid aside his outer garments, and taking a towel, tied it around his waist. Then he poured water into a basin and began to wash the disciples’ feet and to wipe them with the towel that was wrapped around him.
(John 13:4–5)

DEVOTION
This act of Christ symbolizes the heart each of us should long to possess. Humbling ourselves to serve others leads not to a lower status, but to a status Jesus assures is greater. Throughout the New Testament we can see illustrations of how serving others is esteemed in Jesus’ eyes. It is the very heart the He came to this earth with and it was this attitude that drew people to him. It’s a form of surrender, to allow Christ to love others through us.

DAILY VERSE
So you also must be ready, because the Son of Man will come at an hour when you do not expect him.
(Matthew 24:44)

DEVOTION
One of the worst traits to have is that of procrastination. We have no idea when Jesus Christ will come back to claim His church. It could be seconds after you read this, or it could be next week, next month, next year… we don’t know! The point being, we should be prepared at all times. Don’t wait to share your faith, don’t wait to stop doing something that is counter to your faith, don’t wait to be kind to someone…don’t wait.

DAILY VERSE
Then he said, “I tell you the truth, unless you turn from your sin and become like little children, you will never get into the Kingdom of Heaven.”
(Matthew 18:3)

DEVOTION
Children have not yet been polluted by life’s hardships and complications, they’re pre-programmed to be humble. They’re little sponges soaking up all the wondrous things around them. It’s simple for them to fully believe all of the stories in the Bible. As adults, we’ve been tainted by life’s circumstances and can take a skeptical view of things. We have to be open and humble to absorb God’s plan for our lives and to be able to fully come to him in our weakness, to draw on His strength and wisdom.

DAILY VERSE
“If we live by the Spirit, let us also keep in step with the Spirit”
(Galatians 5:25)

DEVOTION
What is God’s plan for your life? It’s a question that is often hard to answer, although it’s easy to find out when we stray from God’s plan, because things usually fall apart. Are you seeking out what God wants for your life or what you want? Human nature is to always want more, maybe God has you where he wants you already. Praying for God to guide you in His plans for your life will surely lead to great joy and peace!

DAILY VERSE
Since God cares for you, let Him carry all your burdens and worries.
1 Peter 5:7

DEVOTION
I have to admit, sometimes my anxiety level can get elevated. With unexpected job losses, uprooting my family, and worrying about our soon to be born daughter…I feel kind of like one of those old blow up punching bags. You know, the ones that looked like Bozo the Clown, where his nose squeaked every time you punched him. But like that clown, I know when I get pounded I have to pop back up and cast my heavy load of worries onto God and trust that He will take care of everything. When we feel “powerless”, God will show His “power”.
