You Are New!

DAILY VERSE

“If anyone is in Christ he is a new creation. The old has passed away, the new has come.”

2 Corinthians 5:17

DEVOTION

“Treat a person as they are and they will remain as they are. Treat a person as they could be, and they will become what they should be.”

We spend our whole lives trying to be good enough, not realizing Jesus is already calling us by a new name. We don’t need to make ourselves new, we simply need to believe what He says about us.

You Can’t Wing It

DAILY VERSE

Do you want more and more of God’s kindness and peace? Then learn to know him better and better.

2 Peter 1:2

DEVOTION

When you look around at all the chaos present in the world today, it’s hard to imagine how you could find any peace at all. God’s peace is available to all who believe. But that peace comes from knowing God’s character and will. Finding that requires that we dive deep into God’s Word.

Many of us have purchased a gift for one of children that came with the dreaded, “Assembly Required!” Many of us have unboxed that item, ignoring the instructions and dove right in thinking, “I can do this on my own.” God’s instructions are necessary! We can’t wing it if we want the peace He promises. That peace resides in the pages of His Word.

Who is Speaking

DAILY VERSE

Whether you turn to the right or to the left, your ears will hear a voice behind you, saying, “This is the way; walk in it.”

Isaiah 30:21

DEVOTION

We all want to hear God’s voice. The problem is we seldom know whose voice it is we’re hearing. Our hearts speak. Our minds speak. Regret screams. Old shame shouts. Our bodies groan. The Spirit whispers. The Devil pushes our buttons. In the midst of all the noise, how can we possibly know if it’s the voice of God we’re hearing or just our own desires?

If faith and trust are God’s true goals for our lives, then it makes sense that He’d have to keep us in the dark on some things in order to prepare us for other things.

You have to have some fear before you can show courage. Uncertainty precedes faith, and doubt must take hold before we can display trust. Trust is believing your future is wrapped in the love of God, and if that’s the case, then we can follow wherever God leads.

We’re in a Fight

DAILY VERSE

The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy; I have come that they may have life, and have it to the full.

John 10:10

DEVOTION

“Gentlemen, welcome to Fight Club. The first rule of Fight Club is: You do not talk about Fight Club” (Tyler Durden, Fight Club, 1999).

We are in a fight. Every day when you wake up, your enemy is busy strategizing new ways to steal your joy, cause you to stumble, make you feel anxious, and keep your focus off of Jesus. To combat the enemy, we need to first understand these things about him, then we need to arm ourselves for the daily battle.

Rebuke Satan’s attacks, read God’s Word daily, make a conscious decision to focus on the things that are good. God will help you win the fight and give you something the Devil cannot give you, PEACE.

What is your will for me Today?

DAILY VERSE

Therefore, as the Holy Spirit says,”Today, if you hear his voice, do not harden your hearts as in the rebellion, on the day of testing in the wilderness…”

Hebrews 3:7-8

DEVOTION

Notice the word “today”? We may think we have it all figured out. We may have a plan for how our lives will be hashed out. Heck, God may have revealed His plan to us, it just hasn’t happened yet.

So what do we do today?

Today, we need to listen to God. We need to hear what He wants from us now. Have a conversation with God today, asking Him for His will for your life today!

Rejoice in the Victory!

DAILY VERSE

I know that you can do all things; no purpose of yours can be thwarted.

Job 42:2

DEVOTION

Wherever you may find yourself today, begin your day with hope. Hope that whatever God has started, He will certainly finish.

You may have hoped that your circumstances would have already changed by now. Don’t lose hope! God is working in the background, He’s finishing the final details, rejoice in the victory God is preparing for you!

Overflowing with Hope

DAILY VERSE

May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace in believing, so that by the power of the Holy Spirit you may abound in hope.

Romans 15:13

DEVOTION

Hope is a contagious thing. When it envelopes the heart of a person, it overflows into their daily lives, and invariably blesses those around them.

The absence of hope can also have the same affect.

When we realize that God is fully good and that there is not an ounce of evil in Him, we can be certain that whatever we may face, He will get us through!
