I’m Speechless

DAILY VERSE

In the same way, the Spirit helps us in our weakness. We do not know what we ought to pray for, but the Spirit himself intercedes for us through wordless groans.

Romans 8:26

DEVOTION

Have you ever been in this position? You’re so hammered by your circumstances that you feel like you’re almost in shock? When it comes to praying you’re at a total loss for words and cannot even mutter a coherent prayer?

In these moments, all you have to do is say, “Lord, I don’t even know what to say right now, but know that I am looking to you for help.”

God knows your heart, and the Holy Spirit is there as our advocate in times like these. God will hear your prayers through the Holy Spirit, He will not forsake you even in seasons where you feel speechless.

A Glimpse of Your Destiny

DAILY VERSE

“Before I formed you in the womb I knew you, before you were born I set you apart; I appointed you as a prophet to the nations.”

Jeremiah 1:5

DEVOTION

Jesus called a group of average fisherman to leave the lives they knew to come and follow Him. Just like His disciples, Jesus saw something in you that you did not see in yourself.

It is great to have someone who has caught a glimpse of your destiny while you are still struggling with your history. God called you, He will equip you, and you will make a difference!

Softening a Hardened Heart

DAILY VERSE

And that is what some of you were. But you were washed, you were sanctified, you were justified in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ and by the Spirit of our God.

1 Corinthians 6:11

DEVOTION

I don’t know if you’re like me, but during my youth I strayed away from God. I only called on Him when I needed something. As circumstances overwhelmed me later in life, I hit a low. My heart had obviously taken all it could handle. I clearly remember the day my heart grew hard with an almost audible click in my chest. It was probably a self-protection mechanism, but I welcomed it at the time.

God never abandoned me through those times. God continued to chase after me and prayers from my family were certainly part of that. God took me back in with open arms and I’ve been following Him ever since.

We have to realize the power we have to tap into 24/7! We have God, His only Son, and the Holy Spirit, all advocating for us. We often forget and rely on our own strength and wonder why everything is falling apart. Put your full trust and reliance on God and your circumstances will quickly go from chaotic to handled!

Jesus will ALWAYS show up!

DAILY VERSE

Simon Peter said to them, “I am going fishing.” They said to him, “We will go with you.” They went out and got into the boat, but that night they caught nothing.

John 21:3

DEVOTION

After traveling with Jesus for 3 and 1/2 years, Peter denied even knowing Him when things got tough. After Jesus’s crucifixion, the disciples splintered and went – fishing.

If your life becomes hard will you abandon all hope and return to your old ways?

Following Jesus is a lifelong commitment. In the next few verses Jesus shows up, cooks His disciples breakfast, and causes their nets to be full of fish.

Jesus will ALWAYS show up!

God is Preparing You

DAILY VERSE

“So I sent for you at once, and you have been kind enough to come. Now therefore we are all here in the presence of God to hear all that you have been commanded by the Lord.”

Acts 10:33

DEVOTION

Cornelius, a centurion and a man who feared God, was set on a path that would lead him to partner with Peter in spreading the Good News of Jesus Christ. It started with meeting an angel.

Not questioning, both men followed God’s direction.

You may be on a similar path. God may have set you on a path. You’re not sure of the outcome, but you follow it anyway. God is not just getting you ready for something; God is getting that something ready for you!

Learn to Filter Out the Chaos

DAILY VERSE

But solid food is for the mature, for those who have their powers of discernment trained by constant practice to distinguish good from evil.

Acts 1:8

DEVOTION

When we give our lives over to Christ we receive the Holy Spirit, the voice that speaks from the inside. The problem with the voice on the inside is that it is not the only voice that speaks.

When God speaks from within, you have to filter it because there are other voices speaking also – the voices of your past, your history, your religious tradition, your own opinion and ideology. It is easy to confuse the voice of God with all those other voices.

As we mature in Christ we can hear God’s voice much more clearly. Seek out His voice! Learn to filter out the chaos of your circumstances, asking God to guide you along the way. Seek His advice in all your decision-making. This will ensure you are following God’s path for your life, which is full, filled with peace and wisdom.

His Purpose Revealed

DAILY DOSE

You are good, and what you do is good; teach me your decrees.

Psalm 119:68

DEVOTION

I know in my heart that God is good. When I’m going through trials, I unfortunately go directly to, “How have I failed you to deserve this?” The problem with this is, it’s a human trait not a divine one. God is not shallow and His love for me is unconditional.

What I should be asking is, “I know you’ve got something awesome in store for me, what do you want me to learn from this?”

God is good! If you are facing some tough circumstances, know this; God will corner you, wrestle with you, and teach you to be more like Him. Trials are simply times to grow closer to Him and for Him to do a new thing in your life. Trust Him, meet with Him daily, on the other side His purpose will be revealed!
