Jesus Intercedes

intercession

DAILY VERSE

Therefore he is able, once and forever, to save those who come to God through him. He lives forever to intercede with God on their behalf.

Hebrews 7:25

DEVOTION

This is an amazing truth for all who follow Jesus, He lives forever to intercede for us! It’s easy to fall into a pattern of self-loathing when you fail. You can feel as if you’re an utter failure in God’s sight. But Jesus is our go-between, God sees us through Christ’s loving eyes. Self-loathing is a trick of the Devil, ask for forgiveness and forgive yourself. God does!

At a Loss for Words?

anguish

DAILY VERSE

And because you are sons, God has sent the Spirit of his Son into our hearts, crying, “Abba! Father!”

Galatians 4:6

DEVOTION

There will be times throughout your life where you are at a loss for words. You may feel so broken that you don’t even know how or what to pray for. God can feel and translate our anguished groans through the Holy Spirit indwelling each of us. When life has you grasping for the right words, be still, sometimes our most powerful prayers are conveyed through heartfelt emotion.

Thing’s Eternal

let-god

DAILY DOSE

Jesus prays, “Abba, Father, all things are possible for you… Yet not what I will, but what you will.”

Mark 14:36

DEVOTION

One of the hardest things to do is pray that something you’ve held close to your heart doesn’t happen. A business venture, a relationship, a large purchase, something that you’ve been working hard toward. To pray that God’s will is done is the ultimate in letting go of the wheel, and it’s hard! But isn’t that what following Christ is all about? It’s part of growing in our faith and focusing on things eternal.

Time to Make Some Noise!

DAILY VERSE

“Fix these words of mine in your hearts and minds . . . Teach them to your children, talking about them when you sit at home and when you walk along the road, when you lie down and when you get up”

Deuteronomy 11:18-19

DEVOTION

The era we’re living in is, unfortunately, a time where God has been put on the back burner if it’s even lit at all. Schools founded by Bible-believing Christians, have attempted to expunge God’s name from their campuses. It’s up to every believer to know God’s word and live it every day. It’s as equally important to instill the teachings of the Bible in the next generation. It’s time to make a joyful noise!

Stealing Our Joy

eyes

DAILY VERSE

Think about the things of heaven, not the things of earth. For you died to this life, and your real life is hidden with Christ in God.

Colossians 3:2-3

DEVOTION

With all of the busyness and chaos washing over us each day, it’s easy to get knocked off track. We either allow it to overtake the important things or we let anxiety creep in and steal our joy. For the Christian, dying is a daily occurrence. Dying to self that is. If our focus stays firmly affixed on Christ, nothing will be able to steal our joy!

Full Power!

DAILY DOSE

But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes upon you…

Acts 1:8

DEVOTION

When I was young I really enjoyed those old monster movies, like Frankenstein. To bring life to the monster, the doctor had to wait for an intense lightning storm. Once the electricity was flowing, he had to throw switch after switch to get that flow of life-giving power to the monster.

Our spiritual lives can be similar. To get the full life-sustaining power of the Holy Spirit, all of those switches need to be engaged. Many times sin in our lives causes some of the switches to remain in the off position, cutting off the full flow of the Holy Spirit’s influence over our lives. To experience all that God has to offer, He not only needs to be our Savior but the Lord over our lives as well. Allow God to work fully through you!

A Small Cost…

DAILY VERSE

“Do you not know that in a race all the runners run, but only one gets the prize? Run in such a way as to get the prize”

1 Corinthians 9:24

DEVOTION

We are all running the race of our lives! We have set before us a priceless prize (eternity) when we finish. In everything we do, we should always aim to give our best effort, drawing strength from the Holy Spirit so we do not tire. At the end you will reap the reward for your efforts. Through the hardships we face along the way, count it as a small cost. For an eternity spent in the very presence of God is worth the sacrifice!
