We Can Be The Light

But the wisdom from above is first pure, then peaceable, gentle, open to reason, full of mercy and good fruits, impartial and sincere.

James 3:17

“The meek shall inherit the earth.” Over the past 10 years, things have degenerated greatly in regard to morality. We can see weekly; sports stars, entertainers, or politicians caught up in behavior that does not represent the character that their status requires. When God is your focus, the attributes in this verse come naturally. With political correctness pushing God out of the conversation, we get chaos and immorality. We can be the light that shines into the darkness.

Giving Thanks

Give thanks to the LORD, for he is good; his love endures forever.

1 Chronicles 16:34

Be thankful every day for all God has blessed you with; your spouse, your children, family, friends… Have a truly Blessed Thanksgiving!

We are Servants

“If I then, your Lord and Teacher, have washed your feet, you also ought to wash one another’s feet. For I have given you an example, that you also should do just as I have done to you”

John 13:14–15

Being a follower of Christ changes your heart from pointing efforts inward, to pointing them outward. Christ was focused on serving others. No matter what our bank accounts look like, we can serve others at no cost other than allowing Christ to love others through us. Lord, allow me to be an example of your willingness to serve.

The Need for Christ

But the wicked are like the tossing sea; for it cannot be quiet, and its waters toss up mire and dirt. There is no peace,” says my God, “for the wicked.”

Isaiah 57:20-21

This verse seems very fitting for some of the things we see going on around us in this day and age. The immoral gong clanging seems to be loud and clear. The need for Jesus in the lives of these people is undoubtable. We can only pray and reach out to them in the hopes that they receive the same peace that we, as believers have, today.

Become the Last

Humble yourselves before the Lord, and he will exalt you.

James 4:10

As followers of Christ, we should always strive to follow His example. He came as a servant and preached that to be considered great we would have to take on the job of being a servant first. Serving others will bring an inner joy that surpasses a parade for a hero.

The Power That’s In You

“For this very purpose I have raised you up, that I might show my power in you, and that my name might be proclaimed in all the earth.”

Romans 9:17

Christ’s power and love is portrayed in us through the Holy Spirit, proclaiming Christ to a dying world. We cannot assume that we are powerless, Jesus can accomplish unbelievable things as we allow Him to work through us.

True Bravery

Commit your way to the Lord; trust in him, and he will act.

Psalm 37:5

Laying all of your plans in God’s hands is an assurance that His will will be played out in your life. Having the courage to let go of the reigns and say, “God, I trust you completely to steer my life in the direction you see most fitting within your will.” That is true bravery!
