Don’t Give In!

She said, “Yes, Lord, yet even the dogs eat the crumbs that fall from their masters’ table.”

Matthew 15:27

God may be silent as we ask in earnest that He answer our prayers. His silence is not meant to punish, it’s meant to bring about deep spiritual growth. Many times His answer is yes, yet the waiting period is required to properly prepare us to receive the blessings He has in store. Don’t give up! Don’t give in! Be patient, seek out God’s direction for your life, humbly receive His blessing when it arrives, and give God the glory for all He has accomplished!

At the Appointed Time

The Lord kept his word and did for Sarah exactly what he had promised.

Genesis 21:1

When God lets us in on His plans for our lives by laying things on our hearts, in most situations, this involves waiting. Sarah was told she would bear Abraham a son in her old age. This was met with some skepticism. Through doubt and impatience, there were many missteps made, but God came through as He had promised. If God has laid something on your heart, be patient, He will come through at the appointed time!

The Highway to Destruction

The highway to hell is broad, and its gate is wide for the many who choose that way.

Matthew 7:13

This reminds me of a song that came out when I was in high school. Unfortunately, it also reminds me of the times we are living in now. As God’s been pushed out of every corner of society other than the church, immorality and a great divide have filled in the gap.

If you came upon a bridge that had washed out due to a storm, wouldn’t you block the road with your car to stop and warn people so they wouldn’t plummet to their deaths?

We have to do a better job at allowing Jesus to love others through us. We need to give people an opportunity to veer off of the highway that leads to destruction and instead get onto the narrow path that leads to eternity!

Old Testament Faith

…and implored him that they might only touch the fringe of his garment. And as many as touched it were made well.

Matthew 14:36

People who walked among Jesus somehow knew and truly believed he was who he said he was. Though he touched many and healed them on the spot, these people knew that by simply touching his robe they would be healed. Having faith the size of a mustard seed is said to give us the ability to move mountains. I wish I had Old Testament faith!

Step Out of the Boat!

Jesus immediately reached out his hand and took hold of him, saying to him, “O you of little faith, why did you doubt?”

Matthew 14:31

I think many of us face this same situation. Our faith allows to get to a certain point when fear and doubt set in and we begin to sink down into the turmoil of our trials.

Today one of the most faithful, Billy Graham, is meeting Jesus face-to-face. I would love to have the faith this man had!

Each of us has the ability to live a life where our faith never waivers. The Holy Spirit lives in us, Christ is constantly interceding for us, and God loves us dearly! So step out of that boat and never doubt that you are precious and protected by Almighty God!

What’s Ahead?

Brothers, I do not consider that I have made it my own. But one thing I do: forgetting what lies behind and straining forward to what lies ahead…

Philippians 3:13

Life happens; there are things that happened yesterday that, by dwelling on them, will have no bearing on what’s ahead. What God has laid out for you does not lie in your rear-view mirror, it lies in front of you! Focus on the future God has paved for you. Trust that all things work together for your good. God has made a way for you!

He’s Overcome the World

“I have said these things to you, that in me you may have peace. In the world you will have tribulation. But take heart; I have overcome the world.”

John 16:33

“I never promised you a rose garden…”, these old lyrics remind us, but the opposite is true. God did promise us a garden, but mankind’s sinful nature ripped away that promise. We will suffer as believers, but through God’s Word, we know how the story ends. Take heart through your struggles, Jesus conquered the trappings of this world and He will help you overcome your circumstances!
