On the evening of that day, the first day of the week, the doors being locked where the disciples were for fear of the Jews, Jesus came and stood among them and said to them, “Peace be with you.” When he had said this, he showed them his hands and his side. Then the disciples were glad when they saw the Lord. Jesus said to them again, “Peace be with you”
It’s one thing to see an empty grave, but the real proof that Jesus was the risen Lord was his appearances prior to his ascension. Jesus experienced everything each one of us experiences including the intimate friendship he developed with his disciples. Sure he had to be seen to fulfill the new covenant of salvation for all, but he also knew his friends were grieving and lost after his death on the cross. Jesus showed his great love for them by appearing to them and showing them the wounds he sustained on the cross so they would know it was truly him.
