Then Peter called to him, “Lord, if it’s really you, tell me to come to you, walking on the water.” “Yes, come,” Jesus said. So Peter went over the side of the boat and walked on the water toward Jesus. But when he saw the strong wind and the waves, he was terrified and began to sink. “Save me, Lord!” he shouted. Jesus immediately reached out and grabbed him. “You have so little faith,” Jesus said. “Why did you doubt me?”
I have to hand it to Peter, at least he had the faith to get out of the boat and take a few steps! How would you or I fair in the same situation? Peter hung out with, talked to, and witnessed miracles in the presence of Jesus Christ! You and I have only our faith and what we’ve experienced reading God’s word to rely on. But it is pertinent that we step out in faith, relying on Christ to work through us and give us that strength that will prop us up and bring us through whatever it is we are facing. Not taking chances is not a trait Christians are known for, take a chance and step out in faith.
